Evaluating your work- Descriptions.


Shutter-  A shutter is a device that allows light to pass for a set period of time to determined the colour of an image.


Aperture-The area in which light passes through, you can change how you want a shot to look by adjusting the aperture to a more defined image or more blurry. It also determines how much light is admitted through the aperture.


JPEG- It compresses images to a more sizeable and useable format.


Composition- How a shot is taken and framed, focusing on a 'centre' point. (such as an object)


White balance- The colour of an image.


Landscape- A wide image showing features of a Country-side or land


Macro- Close up of an image.


Portrait- An image taken of someone (group, person) normally posed, focusing on expressions etc.


Cropping- Cutting part of an image out so your left with only what you wanted.


Contrast- The difference between the light and dark areas of an image taken.


Sepia- A red/brown colour usually used to create an 'old' photo.


Diffused light- Something you would put over light to decrease contrast, no shadows.


Hard light- Sharp-edged shadows.


Three point lighting- More defined lighting (professional standard).


Photojournalism- What the news photograph.


Juxtaposition- Capturing an image which shows the relationship between subjects, and how they are relative to each other. 


Representation- How the image is portrayed.


Connotation- How an image can make you feel, portrayed.
